My Story

Dr Claudia Nicholson is originally from Western Australia, although spent most of her childhood in the Northern Territory and India. She graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery in 1994. She initially worked at Charles Gairdner and Hollywood Hospitals in Perth, before moving to Townsville in Queensland in 1996 where she worked in a wide variety of areas, including sedational anaesthetics, providing family planning & sexual health care to remote communities with FPA (Family Planning Australia), scuba diving medicine and regional general practice.

Having a break from medicine, Claudia travelled extensively throughout Asia, the Middle East and Europe for 2 years. 6 months of these involved a self guided cycling/ camping tour from Holland, through Belguim, Germany, Luxembourg and France, eventually finding herself in Spain.

From here Claudia moved to Sydney in 1998 and completed her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. During the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, she founded a solo general practice in Bondi, NSW,  which she ran successfully until 2016. Being a keen sportswoman, who runs marathons annually, swims, surfs and cycles, and in order to find time to develop her interest in exercise science and holistic wellbeing,  she began to work part-time in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.

Claudia graduated as a Yoga Instructor  early in 2019 with Himalayan Yoga Bliss in Goa, India, and since this time has been teaching yoga both privately and for group classes as well as continuing to work in General Practice, feeling comfortable combining her formal medical knowledge with the ancient arts of yoga, meditation and mindfulness to optimise health outcomes for her clients.

In 2023, Claudia published her first two children's book, about the life and times of her previous much-loved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Pinky and Bird, and Pinky und Bird (German edition).

Being passionate about animal welfare, and with a deep love of the environment, Claudia loves to explore the possibility of plant based diets, and is a plant based chef to a regular audience at her and her husbands coastal property in NSW.
